Lyla's Blessing Day

Lyla is so lucky to be surrounded by so many people who love her to spend her special day with. She truly is our little angel from heaven and we are so grateful she chose our family to come to. She brings a calm peace to our home with her special spirit and we love her to pieces!

Ava Dance

Ava has been going to a little dance class that a couple of the neighbor girls teach. She thinks it's great and wanted some dance clothes like her friend Allison. So we got her some and she calls it her "avatard" instead of a leotard. It makes me laugh every time she asks me where her "avatard" for dance is!

Surgery #1 for Lyla

Last Monday Lyla saw the ENT Dr at Primary Children's where they put a camera down her throat and found she had Lorengomalasia, which is a bunch of extra floppy tissue that grew in the her throat. They called me on Wednesday, talked to the cardiologist and wanted to do surgery that Friday so there we were. The tissue was collapsing in her throat causing it to close off her airway so they are hoping this might help or solve her stopping breathing and choaking issues. We'll cross our fingers maybe they have found a solution this time. I was of course nervous about the surgery and her being so little. The hugs and kisses part and handing her over is the worst, but I know our Heavenly Father is watching over her. Our pediatrician, who is so so great, when she was first having breathing issues told me to pray every night that an angel be by her bedside to watch over her while we can't, and I have and I know that she is watched over and protected when I can't look at her every second even though I wake up constantly during the night to reach over and feel her chest and make sure she's breathing ok. It was a very long hour waiting until the dr came out (I don't even know how I am going to do her 5-6 hr open heart surgery, I am going to be a mess) but she did great and stayed in the NICU for a couple of days and got to come home on Mother's Day afternoon, so that was great! She's doing pretty well now, just having a few issues recovering because of her heart but I think she's on the mend.

She looked so little in her hospital surgery attire.

Every day she had a new little bow in her hair and the nurses asked me if I put it there to which I responded no, someone here did, but they always act surprised about where it came from. Same thing happened when she was born and last time she was in the hospital. It's weird, there must be a bow fairy that sneaks around in the night and puts them on? It's a mystery I guess to everyone there too.

Ready to come home. Hooray!

Rainy Day Movie

Yesterday we went to the movie and saw "How to train your dragon." with Katherine, the kids and aunt Mikayla came too. When we got there it was only in 3D but since we were already there and the kids were ready to see it we stayed. We were the only ones in the whole theatre so it was great, the kids didn't have to be super quiet but they did good. The boys kept their glasses on the whole time watched the entire movie without getting up. (that's quite an accomplishment for us) and Ava took her glasses off. she said when something would pop out at her. It was a cute movie and great to do on a rainy morning!

The Aquarium

Tuesday is usually our storytime at the library and lunch and playing at McDonald's day but since that is over until the Summer we decided to go to the aquarium and check out the new penguins exhibit. They were definitely a hit with the kids, they thought they were so cute, we had to go back and look at them a couple of times before we left.

Seriously? What next?

Last week the kids went downstairs and I thought to myself good I can get dinner finished for fifteen minutes while they play nice. Not the case, when Chris got home and got them for dinner he found them with food coloring they had found and were squirting it all over the carpet and themselves in the basement. He asked them what they were doing and they said "We are being Avatar's" I didn't even know they knew what an Avatar looked like but apparently they do. I was far too mad to take pictures but Chris snapped these couple of shots. The carpet is permanently colored and ruined and won't come out, plus Crew's feet were blue so there are tiny little footprints all the way up the stairs. The other two said it was Crew's idea and I have no doubt that is true. Little rascals!

Tulip Festival

We went out to Thanksgiving Point to enjoy the tulips and met Katherine and the kids. The kids wore themselves out running and running and having a great time together. We had a little picnic lunch before heading back home. It was a lovely day to be outdoors enjoying the tulips!
